My dear non-Catholic friends in Christ. I seek YOUR Point of View.

One of the issues that is confusing to ALL Christians is what the Bible Teaches and or does not teach on “WORKS”

PLEASE Look at these two passages and then share with us your understanding from your FAITHS perspective which is corrcet and WHY?

Gal.2:[16] “yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified.”

James 2: [26] “For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so faith apart from works is dead.”

God Bless you!

People can’t buy or work to earn the ability to partake of the divine nature via uncreated salvific grace. God offers this precious promise, this amazing gift and once we have received it through chrismation then we must grow in relationship with Him by obeying His Commandments out of Love of God & everyone He created - works of mercy, praxis, etc. If we don’t obey His Commandments, then we’re actually rejecting His gift, rejecting Him.

Works of the law cannot justify. Faith in Christ Jesus justifies. The kind of faith that justifies is a living faith–not a dead faith devoid of evidence and works–but a living faith expressed in love and holiness. “Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works” (James 2:18).

(I often hear this accusation from Protestant Fundamentalists against Catholics, but here goes…) Your position is an Unbiblical innovation. The Bible says that were are justified through faith and works. Please tell us by what authority you claim that justification is by faith alone apart from works.

I appreciate the answers from our Non Catholic friends. Looking forward to reading more responses.

Peace in Christ,
Mary.
