I have been asked by a friend to provide a prayer or a poem to print on the back of her wedding bulletin. The wedding will be in an Episcopalian church. Any suggestions will be welcome. The wedding is next week, so I need help quickly. Thank you and God bless!

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Almighty Father,
hear our prayers for [Name] and [Name],
who today are united in marriage before your altar.
Give them Your blessing,
and strengthen their love for each other.

We ask this of You
through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Here is a version of the Catholic nuptial blessing; I particularly like the last part. She could alter it to suit her preferences; for instance, she want to make it a blessing on the bride and the groom instead of concentrating on the bride:

*Holy Father, creator of the universe,
maker of man and woman in your own likeness,
source of blessing for married life,
we humbly pray to you for this woman
who today is united with her husband in this sacrament of marriage.

May your fullest blessing come upon her and her husband
so that they may together rejoice in your gift of married love
(and enrich your Church with their children).

Lord, may they both praise you when they are happy
and turn to you in their sorrows.
May they be glad that you help them in their work
and know that you are with them in their need.
May they pray to you in the community of the Church,
and be your witnesses in the world.
May they reach old age in the company of their friends,
and come at last to the kingdom of heaven.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.*

For instance, it could be shortened to read:

*Holy Father, creator of the universe,
maker of man and woman in your own likeness,
source of blessing for married life,
we humbly pray to you for these two, our beloved friends,
so that they may together rejoice in your gift of married love
and enrich your Church with their family.
