I am a very scrupulous person and it’s gotten to a point recently where it’s been interfering with my daily life.

I know there is no quick fix, and that the best way is to seek counseling and to talk with a priest. I spoke with a priest briefly about my scrupulously.

Does anybody have any resources that might be helpful to someone with scrupulousity? Any good books/articles/talks on this subject? Anything would help!

We are sincerely sorry to hear of your struggles. However, the CA Forums are unfortunately not set up to provide intensive spiritual counseling. Our best advice is for you to seek out a good priest on the local level who knows you or can get to know you because he’ll be treating you in the most fruitful counseling environment: a three-dimensional one. You may also wish to consider getting other support on the local level from a licensed counselor who is respectful of your Catholic Faith. Regard…

As Cruciferi said, you really should make an appointment with a priest, and I would add that if that doesn’t go anywhere, you might try additional priests. I have had my own issues with scrupulosity and have learned that it can have more than one cause. It can be a knowledge problem, a spiritual problem, a psychological problem, or a combination of any of those things. Some people have OCD and their scrupulosity is a manifestation of that. Other doubt God’s mercy, which would be a spiritual problem. Similarly, some think they are supposed to become saints all on their own, and rely on their own ability instead of turning to God for the grace they need to follow His plan, and inevitably find themselves failing. Others are misguided about what is a venial sin and what is a mortal sin, so they walk through mine fields thinking that anything they do might be a mortal sin - a knowledge problem. (This last thing is probably the easiest to overcome.) A good priest might be able to help you explore the possible root of the problem and decide what steps to take to address the situation.

The website http://scrupulousanonymous.org/ may help you a bit.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on Hawkeye, heal him and have mercy on the whole world. (x10)

I did pray a decade of my daily Divine Mercy Chaplet for your intention.
