Recently I experienced a period of great anxiety and fear related to possible health (environmental) concerns - it sparked me to get really upset, to try to charge around fighting off the possible contaminants, meanwhile making my family suffer with seeing me so angry and distraught. After several hours I slowed down (fatigued), admitted defeat, wept, apologized.

This wave of fear is a familiar reaction for me, especially when I was younger and my kids seemed more vulnerable.

I did consult a doctor who advised me to not be concerned…

My question is: am I just completely lacking the true Faith?! How can I think I am a true believer, receiving the Sacraments, raising my family in the Catholic faith, and then have this type of meltdown??!!

Hypocrite? Am I totally deceived by myself?

It sounds like this based on concern over Climate contamination and the alarm over Global Warming related issues, is that right?

Well, it sounds like you need a therapist.
Unfortunately we can’t give medical advice.
Will pray for you.

You are weak, just like the rest of us. You may want confess your littleness to God.

See if you can find a Catholic therapist or at least one who respects your Catholic Faith and run it by him or her. It sounds like you’re a sensitive soul but there may be some helps to not have to suffer this much intensity. It might also be a good idea to check with a physician first if the anxiety seems connected with your menstrual cycle. Looking back from midlife I can see a lot of my own certainly was. In other words, don’t try to puzzle it out on your own and make sure you’re in good health physically and mentally; if there are spiritual aspects they can be dealt with too, with the help of an understanding priest. But first get checked out.
