I am having trouble with a sense of balance in my ears. The worst possible thing for me is to endure someone pounding on a piano or organ. Now I’ll admit I do not like either one of these instruments, especially the piano as it is very easy to play poorly. However, now that my situation is medical I want to see if I can find a quiet Mass. We used to have one until somone saw fit to get an atrocious piano pounder in at eight o’clock in the morning. Do the major archdioceses have a list of silent Masses? I hope I don’t have to call thirty parrishes to find a Mass that won’t leave my head spinning because someone is hammering the keys as hard as he can. It is especially overwhelming when there are no dynamics, loud to soft, and very little tone variation. All of this comes from hitting the keys so hard. I hope I can go to mass without it. All the guitar Masses are gone, which I can handle, have been taken over by piano wanna be types. the Spanish Mass has guitar, and I do speak the language well, but I cannot get to work on time if I go to this Mass. Making comments to music school primma donnas would not be helpful. I do not want to have a situation evolve due to a failure to take constructive criticism where I end up suggesting that a peson does not know how to play his intrument. I just want to find a Mass where music is not an issue.
Sincerely,
AC
