I’m hoping one of you more learned than I can help me with this question. I was on ebay the other day and I noticed many Rosaries, Holy Medals and other sacramentals up for auction on the site. My understanding is that once an item has been blessed, a person isn’t allowed to sell it. Is this true, or do I have this confused with something else?

Thanks for the help.

You may sell rosaries, medals, etc. (providing they are your property to dispose of) even if they have been blessed. What you may not do is increase the price to more than the value of the object without the blessing. Or, in the case of an auction where the buyer determines the price, you may not use the object’s blessed status as a selling point to attract bids. People often do this quite licitly when they sell a house, car, old wedding rings, or other items of value that had been blessed.
