Sensitivity and Pride

This is something I’d especially appreciate some “older” folks to comment on. If you’re out there.

Do you think that folks these days, in the West, are overly sensitive? Would you describe Western civilization as suffering from a massive lack of humility?

ok, I’m not really “older folk” but, yes, I do think that.

there is a lot of screaming at the top of one’s lungs that things are “racist” or “discriminatory” over every! little! thing!

yes, prejudice and discrimination do exist, in great volumes, but frankly there is also a lot of overreaction

Ditto to angell1’s message.

When I was a kid, I refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance. When I was a teen, I refused to dissect. Some people didn’t like it but we respected each other and at no point did the situations go beyond the groups involved. Now it seems like so much goes quickly public and then it gets overblown.

I’m pushing 60. Hope that is older enough for you. Many folks are overly sensitive when on the receiving end and insensitive when on the giving end. As too the second part-Yes.
