Sentimental moment from the Pope's Mass

I was watching the Mass of the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ from Rome, while ironing. For the Presentation of the Gifts, there was a young boy and a girl. I presume, judging by his clothes, that the boy was an altar sever. Anyhow, after they finished and the Pope gave them the customary blessing, the boy stood quickly and stepped up next to the Pope. You could kind-of see the MCs were a bit surprised, but then he gave the Pope a kiss on the cheek before stepping down. (Sniff, sniff)
 
Where are all the objections to this? Clearly it’s not in the rubrics.
