Sept 29: Yom Kippur Celebration

I consider Judaism not really necessarily a “non-Catholic religion.” My goal for a few years has been to spend Yom Kippur as a day of reflection on sin. I believe heavily in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, faith well founded. The thing is, I find merit in this holiday. Anyone else want to try this?
 
I often fast along side of our Jewish brothers and sisters on Yom Kippur. And if I can, I’ll quietly go into a synagogue or Temple to say some prayers with those who are there all day. It’s a beautiful liturgy (altho my favorite is the evening before - Kol Nidre).
 
That is a very profound response… Some Christians believe this also, very delightful! There isn’t anything against Catholicism in doing this, right? I still need Jesus to mediate my grievous faults :,(

In celebration I am referring to celebrating our creators love for us to allow forgiveness as he does

I don’t celebrate Yom Kippur because I believe God revealed himself fully in Jesus Christ. The temple is gone, the sacrifices are finished, the old rites are abrogated. Eventually, the Jewish people will accept Jesus Christ as the Messiah. I long for the day when the Jews accept Jesus. I don’t think Catholics participating in their festivals would help the Jews accept the historical reality that the Messiah was born in Bethlehem 2000 odd years ago.
 
I spent the first half in reflection of sin, then the second half in celebration of Michaelmas. It was a dual-holiday in the end for me.
