September 9/11 - My questions

I hope this is the most appropriate forum for this question. I have already read some similar questions and answers but I still have no answer to this particular case.

We all know what happened on September 11, 2001. A tragedy. I’ve read the 9/11 Commission-Report and it raises many questions.
  1. According to the report there were so many points where this tragedy could be prevented. How it is possible that God let this happen?
  2. There were many system failures, many people were notified about the possibility of attack. They did nothing. Is this a sin? To do nothing and because of this people die.
  3. There were about 2800 people killed. Everybody on the planes that have crashed knew their faith for quite a time before the impact. They all prayed. Did God hear their prayers? Why he didn’t respond to the prayers? Or he did and because of this one plane missed the target?
  4. Could God prevent this tragedy?
And my final question: those 19 pilots - they were all Muslims. Were those 19 Muslim pilots so powerful that even a few hundred of catholic prayers were worthless?
 
God gives every single person free will, we can choose to do go or to do evil.

That day, and every other day, those who died and were friends of God went to be with God - that is the goal of every Christian!

The important thing is that we live every moment as if it were our last, and that we are in a state of Grace when our time comes - on a plane or in a hosptial, at work or at home, at a young age or in our old age.
 
With the amount of sin in this country (50 million abortions, etc.), I am surprised that God has not poured out his wrath more than He has.

As far as September 11th, I know “they” know A LOT more than what they are telling us.

Personally, I do not know if the theories espoused in the videos are true, but they bring up some good points that you will not hear in the mainstream media.
 
God does not pour out his wrath…He sent His beloved Son to us, those that believe in Him and follow Him will have eternal life…God did not make the terrorists do what they did, bad things happen to good people here on earth and if you follow Jesus, you will live with Him in heaven…Unfortunately God gave us free will, so lots of people turn to evil…I don’t read any "conspiracy "theory…the islamic hate mongers did it and yes, America was too lax in protecting us,but the extremists muslem terrorists hate the western world and always will…
 
Actually, I know in my heart and soul God was in the works on 9/11. If you start reading the stories of the people who were supposed to be at the World Trade Center at the time of the attacks, you will find an odd phenomena. Hundreds of people were late, got held up in traffic, took the wrong train, etc. that prevented them from being to work on time.

I do not believe for a minute that God would pour out his wrath on this country. Remember, he was willing to spare Sodomm and Gomorah if he could find but ten innocents. And also, if he was going to do that, then why send Jesus? He gave us the free will to make the choice. Some people will abuse it. But I don’t think he’s going to punish the innocent with the gulity.

Also, I’m sure there were many people who came to faith that day either before their deaths or people who were affected by the attacks indirectly. I have no doubt that God heard EVERY SINGLE prayer that day, from the WTC, from flight 93, and from me and my Mother in Michigan, praying in front of the TV and crying.

It was very hard for me for years to see the pictures of the people who were falling from the WTC. One in particular haunted me up until this year. Then I realized that this poor man’s body was hurtling towards the ground, but his soul was safe in God’s arms. His arms were full that day, but His love saved the most important part of these people - their souls.

I hope that makes sense. I’ve read alot about 9/11, because it was really upsetting for me and if something scares me then I start to study it until I understand it and then I’m not afraid anymore.

God isn’t obligated to save us from our own follies, carelessness, or evil intent. He doesn’t exercise a veto over our free will or fallen natures. The 9/11 question can be asked about lots of other things: Why didn’t God move that iceberg 25 feet and spare the Titanic? Couldn’t the Japanese torpedo have been a dud and missed the *Indianapolis *- or the German torpedo that sank the *Dorchester *and its famous “4 Chaplains?” How about the Our Lady of the Angels fire that killed a number of nuns and many innocent children around 1959? How come He didn’t send Hitler a heart attack prior to the Holocaust, or an impairing stroke to Justice Harry Blackmun prior to the time he penned the Roe v. Wade abortion decision?

We work out our salvation in fear and trembling and the knowledge of the love of God, and someday we will understand The Plan.

God does not promise us that we will live comfortably, or long, or anything else about this life, even if we follow his plan exactly. His own Son was executed on trumped up charges and His Son was perfect.

What he promises us is that if we follow his plan, we will be with him forever when we shuffle off this mortal coil. We may do that shuffling at the behest of a Moslum terrorist, a Christian soldier, or a desease. Life is the journey, The destination is what God is concerned with.

As for answering our prayers, he allows us to ask, he does not guarentee that we will like the answers, or even understand them in this life.

Thy will be done.
 
As Catholics we live (or are supposed to live) as if we are in the end times. As if each day might be our last. This is why we have the sustenance of the Sacraments. We need to make sure that if this is the last day that we will live we are in friendship with God.
 
you americans are lucky that you on have sept 11th.

in my country england most of my family were bombed during the war, luckily my father had been whisked away as a baby or i wouldnt be here, my wife is polish and her grandparents were turned into soap at a death camp, my sister almost lost her life when the ira (funded by usa) put a bomb in her school.

i would trade all this for 100 sept 11th’s
