I recently recorded and uploaded this sequence for the Annunciation of Blessed Mary the Virgin (march 25).

youtube.com/watch?v=EdwksFvtsng

I wonder if anyone here has any opinions on this particular piece of music, the text, the melody and suitability of the english language to transmit it in. As well as inaccuracies of translation/paraphrase.

It’s not the most easy piece of music to sing, but at the same time, with effort and practice can be very beautiful and moving I think, irregardless of which language one chooses (each has an advantage).

The original latin recording of it will be uploaded on the same youtube account by next saturday. I know without immediate access to compare the two back to back, it is more difficult to from conclusions. My apologies for this. It can be found online somewhere I think.

Very nicely done…:clapping:

I cannot speak to the words, language etc but it does seem to me that there are a couple of places in the music where there is a bit too much “bouncing around”. I don’t know the right terminology but it seems that for or five note changes on a single syllable is a bit much and, to me seemed to throw off the rhythm.
Perhaps that is just me not understanding the form properly. If so I apologize and just plead stupid. 😊

That said, it is, overall a beautiful piece and I thank you for sharing it.

Peace
James

It is a bit hard. In fact, did you two mess up a little bit?

Nevertheless I found it interesting. The words match up pretty well.
