No laughing matter here. I just wondered if any of you have ever met someone in which you instantly felt a dark presence in them and coming from them? If so, how did you handle it as a Christian?

I feel very sorry to bring up a topic so dark, but I just wondered if this is a normal Christian thing? I feel scared by what I sensed today from someone. It felt like pure hatred of me disguised as concern - almost like a mocking of me- I know I did nothing to warrant such hatred. I feel scared for this person.

May Jesus Christ be praised adored and loved forever. Blessed be His Holy Name. Jesus have mercy on us.

Yep. When it has happened I proceed with caution, but try to give the benefit of the doubt.

I do a lot of prolife work. I’ve run across several people who I’d describe as demonic, including the man who owned the abortion mill. If I know I may encounter these people, I will carry a blessed rosary with me. Plus I say lots of St. Michael prayers.

Is this a person you may see again?

Yes, most likely so, and this is the second time I met this person… The first time was strange too, but like Allegra said I gave this person the benefit of the doubt. Which I do beleive it’s good to do so.

I really felt like it was a severe demon of lust and fornication… Evil Sex stuff but that this person is caught up in it, not fully endorsing, but that they do not beleive God and the church teachings. I know for a fact this persons family is very catholic. I was not going to return, but felt badly for having felt such caution before and decided to ignore it. This persons eyes even looked very dark, which the remembrance of it disturbs me the most. When I saw this persons eyes I had to look away, right away.

I actually feel fear for this persons soul. I’m somewhat mourning tonight over it, though feeling fearful disgust about it. You mention the St. Michaels prayer… Oddly before I saw this person today I had the notion to pray it.

I’ve known such people. They usually can’t be helped, until the Holy Spirit intervenes. If you feel uncomfortable around them, or,worse yet, tempted by their beliefs/lifestyles, all you really can do is pray for them. They believe in a ‘right’ thing that is not God’s ‘right’ thing.

It’s also good to be careful when asking others to join you in prayer for such people. Some may tend to get obsessed or tempted; others may allow talk about others to degenerate into gossip. In face-to-face discussions, try to limit yourself to mature Christians. Anonymous ways of sharing, such as these message boards, can also be helpful. Maybe start a thread on the Prayer Intentions section.

But, if the uncomfortable feelings remain, you should protect yourself, and limit your contact with these people. No one can go wrong in going directly to God…who wants the best for both you and the other person.

I remember meeting a man after church who asked what I was looking for in the church and proposed that he give me whatever I want. I thsnked him and left
