You say to research on both sides but don’t really list any real catholic works (I see Anglican, Orthodox, and Orthodox convert from Catholicism). Do you have any suggestions for works by Catholics?

I assumed that Catholics would prefer to recommend these works, but I think Fr. Adrian Fortescue’s writings on Orthodoxy would represent well the more informed Catholic critique of Orthodoxy. The arguments seem to me to not have changed very much since his own day (that’s not a criticism). I would avoid the writings of James Likoudis, a Greek Orthodox convert to Roman Catholicism who has written a number of books on the subject. I’ve come across him apparently intentionally misrepresenting Patristic quotations a few times, and he’s not well-informed as to Orthodox philosophical theology. Fortescue’s “The Early Papacy” is good. Giles on Papal Authority is a useful historical work as well. I should note here that I don’t reject a universal primacy of jurisdiction (of a sort) , which is why I think Orthodoxy can assimilate this sort of scholarship. But those are the best works I can think of right now.
