Do your religious leaders talk about how people love stuff, and the more the better? Has it affected your lifestyle/buying habits?

I don’t seek out the latest tech. or cars, and we don’t own a trophy home. But I really do like that stuff I collect. 🙂 We’re not watching an old floor model TV with rabbit ears, and the VCR is history, replace by a Blu-ray player. We really don’t need TVs, so upgrading that stuff always gives me pangs. With all the talk about stuff at Church, I’m careful to make sure that my stuff doesn’t become Stuff.

I wonder if this is an American phenomenon. Are we Americans ridiculous with stuff compared to the rest of the world? When you look at the average American kids’ toy collection, it really is sickening. (And I’m guilty of giving my own too much, so I’m not pointing fingers at you younger folks with little kids now.)

Is this more a Xian thing than other religions? Are members of other faiths better at controlling their avarice? 😉
