The Serra Club is named for St Junipero Serra, and is dedicated to promotion of both priesthood and religious vocations. When I was in Missouri, the local Serra Club teamed up with the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS, and the Diocese of Kansas City - St Joseph, MO, to put forth a concerted recruitment effort. We started a Vocations committee in our parish, and sent 10 of the 15 priesthood retreat attendees. My family moved around the same time.

St Serra’s memorial is July 1.
