I grew up in a very strict version of SDAism. It is difficult to leave. It took many years of reading anti-SDA arguments for me to finally lose faith. Then it took a few years to find a new church. I am now Eastern Orthodox after nearly becoming Catholic. I strongly recommend Orthodoxy! It is difficult to make the transition but so worth it.

Can’t agree more!! Now its just finding a new church to attend.
you should start a thread on what prompted you to leave SDA. it would be interesting to hear the stories. when i attended the prophecy seminar put on by SDA the people seemed really nice, but it seemed really strict.

Ashamed?

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend!
Sorry, but you are not conversing with pigs here.

What an insult!

They corrupt your mind with lies must keep to the sabbath or you have the beast number in your soul. I am a former member who is looking for a true religion that doesn’t base there religion on lies and false Gods/prophets…
Hi Zack and welcome to the forum! I’m a former SDA who converted to Catholicism just recently. There are a few other former SDAs on this forum who have also converted to Catholicism.

Of course I would recommend that you seriously consider joining the Catholic Church, and I believe you will find all that you have been searching for as a Christian. Perhaps enroll in a R.C.I.A. class at your local Catholic Church.

But whatever course you pursue in your search, I strongly recommend that you take your time and pray and pray and pray as you study, reflect, and make your choice. God will honor your prayers and lead you according to His will.

I also recommend that you take a look at the web sites linked below in my signature line. There you will find excellent information from SDAs who have converted to Catholicism.

If you have any questions that you would like to ask me, by all means, please feel free to ask away!! We will keep you in our daily prayers as you seek God’s direction, and will walk with you on your journey as much as you need us to. God bless you in your journey!

God bless all!!!

too funny…lolol…fd
Jargon I was NOT joking. I do remember your name from an SDA forum on another site, and I am sure you think that mormons and sda’s are casting your “pearls” before anti-Christ, the beast “swine”.

I honestly do not care about your opinion, it’s just the rantings of a cultist, reflecting your false “prophet”, whether Ellen G White or Joe Smith.

WOW!!..maybe you should actually READ what i post…if you had, you would realise that i despise the sda…i’m not even a christian…now that IS too funny…lolololololol…:extrahappy:…fd

p.s…beliefnet isnt an sda site…it’s multi/non-faith…

No beliefnet is not a sda site, but it does have sda sections. It used to have a section a few years ago that was open to critique of SDA ideas.

I remember you from the SDA section of B-net.

If you are not an SDA youself you are, or at least were closely aligned with them…if my memory serves. I do not remember you critiquing the sdas at all…ever. But you do like to critique Catholics…no?

A lot like (other?) SDA’s with their “beast”, and “whore of babylon” gibberish.

you dont have an acvcurate memory, do you?..allow me to refresh it for you…i posted on b-net for a few months…this was about 6 months ago…the purpose of my posting there was to SPECIFICALLY hash on the sda church…pay attention and save yourself embarassment later!!!..if by “closely aligned” you mean forced to live at their boarding school and being brutalized by the woman doing the forcing then you need a thesaurus…you also need to read my postings on THIS site…and yes…i critique ALL religions, along with all political philosophies…btw…were you paying attention when i stated that i am not a christian?..if you were, then you dont understand how the sda feels about ex-members…especially those of us who dont beleive in the bible, salvation, or heaven…your last line is incoherent and as such, i am unable to respond to your “whore of babylon” rantings…you have a nice day, now!!..👍…frederick

Well, almost all of my experiences with Mormons have been good! For crying out loud, I could quote that verse on most of my posts, but its not right to say that about Christ’s people, and its kind of difficult to distinguish in this kind of a setting. But you are bold indeed to come here and throw our Scriptures in our face, but apparently not bold enough to defend your faith!
Luke, this gentleman came in here, saw Pick respond to a statement that Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons and Seventh Day Adventists were cults by saying that HE would add the adjective “dangerous” to that statement.

Then, when this gentleman said that he was sad to see the hate, Pick responded with 'what hate?"

Refusing to share something sacred with someone who is guaranteed to mock it is not cowardice, any more than refusing to pet the pretty kitty with the white stripe, interesting odor and a penchant for spreading rabies is. It’s a matter of trust, you see.

I absolutely trust the skunk to spray and/or bite.
I absolutely trust the Bill Picks of the world to mock, denigrate and throw some egregious and unwarranted insult, just because he feels like it, and because he doesn’t think that calling another faith a ‘dangerous cult’ is 'hate."

Hi Diana, I hate to break it to you, but you’re barking up the wrong tree (no Biblical metaphor intended :p). My Catholic faith gets mocked on a regular basis right here on a Catholic forum! Why its almost as if people can see what I believe in every post I make. 😉 And yet somehow I persevere, and refuse to be ashamed of the Word of God. And so, yes, I sympathize, but I would just suggest not to stoop to that level of discourse, and to not be afraid to defend what you believe. God bless.

I am aware that the anti-Catholics of the world are just as nasty (sometimes nastier) than the anti-anybody else’s. Personally, once one of them has been identified, then sharing something as personal and sacred as a conversion story really IS casting pearls before swine, in the biblical sense.

There has to be some hope that whoever is listening is actually listening, y’know? The trouble is, the antis aren’t listening. They have no intention of listening. They come right out and tell you that they aren’t listening. Their purpose is strictly to mock, denigrate, insult and disparage. They will take heart felt words and simple faith and twist it to suit their purposes. That’s what MAKES them ‘anti.’

(shrug) It’s one thing to cast your ‘testimony’ to the winds hoping that it will land on fertile soil amid the rocks. It’s quite another to deliberately throw good seed on concrete. That’s what Matt. 7:6 is all about.

All that said, there are very few anti’s (at least, my definition of the term) on this board. I’ve only run into three or four since January.
