“The bishop of Verona, Monsignor Giuseppe Zenti, initially accused the former students of lying. However, after one of the accused lay religious men admitted to sexual relations with students, the bishop ordered an internal investigation. It found some abuse occurred, albeit a fraction of what had been alleged.”

Comment:
This is what I always thought to be the case. The vast majority of these ‘victims’ and their controllers are a pack of liars, hell bent on destroying the Catholic Church.

some of them, maybe, but some of them are definitely genuine. Do you have this view of all sexual abuse victims?

Rather than take the rout you are on, to call the victims liars, I can only say this in the hopes that it will ease your pain and renew your faith.

As far as I can gather, about 4500 Priests have been accused of sex abuse where the accusations have been found to be warranted since the scandals began.

There are over 405,000 Priests in the world.

Even if you doubled the 4500 to 9000, or quadrupled it to 18,000, it is still a far cry from 405,000.

Now, that may sound like it is minimizing, and to the victims of those 4500 it is of no solace that the other 399,000 Priests in the Catholic Church are not abusers, but to the faithful, it can provide us some measure of comfort.

I’ll say it again as I said in an earlier post. The Catholic Church is made up of human beings. Human beings are flawed. The vaste majority of Priests, overwhelmingly, are good men of God, faithfully carrying out their works in accordance with the teachings of Christ.

Thats not really the problem though. The issue is that these actions were known, covered up, and the pedophiles were moved around to other areas. This not only happened in a few diocese, but its coming around to be most in the world almost.

Please do not take this as light, do not take this as its some conspiricy. Take it as real, accept it, and make it known that it is not acceptable and move on.

What bothers me in this whole Catholic Church “Sex Scandal Abuse” whether it happens in Ireland, Canada, United States, Chile, France or any other Catholic diocese around the globe, is the deliberate cover-ups by Bishops an Cardinals. Seems to me the Pope never gets the clear picture or full extent of Truth from those Shepherds in the Church who are responsible in informing the Pope about the entire scope of exactly what is happening in all these Sex Scandal cases. Poor policing administration in Church affairs.

But what really is worse than all this is not just the afflicted victims scarred for life, but the insidious Global Media (“The Great Whore”) owned and operated by Satan himself.

If such Sex Scandals were reported from any other Christian religion or non-Christian religion for that matter; do you actually think the global media would be all over such stories with big headlines and story coverage from media sources? Hell No, it wouldn’t sell newspapers.

It’s really sad that our Pope is feeling the terrible brunt of this big mess.

I can tell you how the media treats it from other sources: it essentially ignores it. The Catholic League did a study a few years back that found that sexual abuse in the Protestant sects is at least twice what it is in the Catholic Church - yet how many Prots have been trotted through the mud? Sexual abuse in Jewish congregations is on a par with the Prots - no mention of them either. Public schools? Six times the Catholic Church, and there is plenty of evidence there of union cover-ups. Where’s the press on that? If you said silent, you wouldn’t be far off the mark.

Back about 15 years ago here we had a priest arrested in a prostitution sting at a nearby rest stop off the freeway. It was the leading front page story for FIVE CONSECUTIVE DAYS in every local newspaper. Around the same time, there was a local high school teacher and a Protestant youth pastor both charged with sexual abuse AND convicted. Their stories ran side by side at the very bottom of the very last page of the local section of the paper. Personally, I find that appalling. First of all - the priest - though I certainly do not condone his actions - was soliciting sex from another adult. The other two were pursuing minors under the age of 18. Second of all - the priest was merely accused at that point. The other two - the story was about their conviction in a court of law - they had been found guilty.

I often wonder what ever came of that priest. I know he stayed in our parish for awhile with our pastor, who was kind enough to take him in, but beyond that - I have no idea what happeend to him. I remember the heat our pastor took from several of the “high and mighty” type parishioners, too, over taking the man in as a boarder until after his trial. It was the only time in the 18 years I’ve known the man that I have seen him that angry…they had provoked him to the point he blistered the whole lot of them for their attitudes and behavior. It was also one of the best homilies I think I’ve ever heard on Christian charity and judging others, lol. 😃
