Sex before marriage

Hi all,

How bad of a sin is finger sex? I was involved with this for just 5 seconds with my girlfriend until I stopped knowing that it was leading to sex and this is a sin. How bad of a sin did I commit? Do I need to go to confession or can I just pray for forgiveness. Please pray for me and forgive me for asking an offensive question if it is. I am coming back to Catholicism especially now agreeing that sex before marriage is a no no. I thought that before sex beforw marriage was okay knowing that there was a risk that the marriage was not going to work out. I had gone through three failed relationships so i had given up on marriage. But now…i am thinking differently. I have also never been married.

I believe you committed the sin of lust as you more then likely had an overwhelming desire or craving, which you briefly acted on. That is a mortal sin. You should probably because of that go to confession.

Fingering in itself is a form of lasciviousness rather than fornication but both are mortal sins. You should go to confession for that as well.

Great to see you’re coming back to Catholicism. Praying for you…

Do you try to avoid sin or confession? We should frequent the sacrament more often. I think you should confess the views you held that led you to the things you did. You have remorse. Just share it with Jesus in Confession. It is He that you are speaking to. And the minister is his agent. Don’t be too ashamed.

You will be blessed for a contrite confession. And His love will strengthen you. But NOT make you immune to sin again. That takes a determination to love Him more than your desire to sin against Him.
 
I would go to confession and confess unchaste relations.

“finger sex”? Can we trivialize the way we might objectify another person and insult their God-given dignity? It is too easy to substitute immediate pleasure as a goal rather than mutual fulfillment through the gift of sacramental love as it was meant to be.

I my state, “finger sex” can be interpreted as level II sex offense and qualify an offender for a spot on the state sex offender registry.
 
Best to got to the Sacrament of Confession and get forgiveness. What you did is still a mortal sin because you seemed to know what you were doing is wrong. Yet you also had the strength to stop yourself, so good job there. Get to confession and ask God to grant you the graces to say no to your lust before you get to that point.

Also, encourage your partner to seek absolution, but don’t push it as that is a personal matter.
 
I would go to confession don’t be worried about it . The forgiveness that will be poured out to you is endless … When in doubt confess
