Whoa whoa whoa, couldn’t it poke the baby?
I’m not sure if this is a joke or a serious question, but in case it is serious, no it couldn’t poke the baby. The vagina is completely separated from the uterus by the cervix.

“marriage is directed to the begetting and rearing of children, as well as to the community of life.”
newadvent.org/summa/5064.htm#article7
Note that this is a quote of Aristotle, and is in the “objections” section of the article that is later refuted.
“Just as the marriage promise means that neither party is to have intercourse with a third party, so does it require that they should mutually pay the marriage debt. The latter is indeed the chief of the two, since it follows from the power which each receives over the other. Consequently both these things pertain to faith…”
This is a very nice description of the “marital debt” viewpoint.
My mistake. St. Thomas incorrectly taught that marital relations during menses is morally illicit.
Note that all theologians of the time considered marital relations during menses to be sinful. The open question that St. Thomas is addressing is whether it is just sinful for the spouse requesting payment of the marital debt, or whether relations during a woman’s menses is so objectionable that it is also sinful for the spouse honoring the request.

It was a serious question. But that’s relieving.

what is the church’s teaching about sex during pregnancy? is it allowed or illicit?
Our NFP instructor said it was fine. Same rules apply, though must finish where your supposed too.
