Bringing such up in a fight is not necessarily the best time.

But Lent is coming up and this is a very serious area that needs to be worked on…

(not to mean to “wait til Lent”…but it is a time to work very seriously on our conversion)

Because my husband doesn’t buy it. He doesn’t think it’s a sin. We didn’t know about all these things when we got married. We like to be creative and not feel so much pressure to do things a certain way. He also doesn’t think contraception is a sin and doesn’t want any more kids (neither of us do). If I get pregnant again, it’s gonna be a bad scene. I’ll be depressed, he’ll be understandably upset.
My husband is an atheist. To him, nothing is a sin. I was not practicing my faith when we married. It was many years before I understood the teachings of the Church.
To be honest, I also disagree with this teaching, but I obey it to be safe, which makes me a reluctant enforcer. So I feel like a big wet blanket and like I’m gambling with our happiness. And guess who’s fault it will be if it all goes to ****?
Here we differ. I fully embrace the teachings. I have been on the pill, I felt awful. We have used condoms, they just aren’t reliable enough for us.
To top it all off, my husband is the best, most amazing man I know and all I want to do is make him happy and I don’t feel right about basically forcing him to roll the dice every month when we are both adamant about not wanting any more kids.
We have been using NFP for years. My husband respects my beliefs and will do what he needs to do to allow me not to sin. Believe me, for a guy that doesn’t believe in Hell, he is helping me get to Heaven.

Wow Mary, that’s awesome! My husband is pretty respectful of “the ban”, but neither of our hearts are really in it, so every couple of months or so it leads to frustration and argumentation.

I’m not sure why it would cause any sort of conflict in your marriage? You can still have sex. You just can’t masturbate and ejaculate externally. Just because she is pregnant doesn’t mean the two of you can’t join in the union that marriage provides. You just have to do it in the way God designed it.
You are right of course, remember that not all women (or couples for that matter) feel comfortable with having intercourse particularly during the later stages of pregnancy and of course there’s an enforced period of abstinence to follow.
