Sorry I posted this in the wrong section and I couldn’t delete it.

I need guidance with this. A brief synopsis of myself. I am a 25 year old male. When I was younger my parents divorced at a very young age so I was primarily raised by my mother and grandmother. I had an uncle around here and there and a grandfather. My mother later remarried when I was a teenager and we have a good relationship but I wonder if me not having a father when I was younger has made me somewhat dysfunctional when it comes to me forming female relationships.

What I mean about being dysfunctional is that I have been late in dating women due to my own maturity and my mother almost trying to tell me who to date. I am a black male and tend to have always been more attracted to women outside of my race but it seems it is something my other doesn’t understand so I hid my so called love life from her.

I have previously experimented with men (and at this time I have not had much intimate contact w/ women) which brought some sexual confusion. I am not physically attracted to men. I can tell if a man is deemed ‘attractive’. The idea of kissing a man is not my kind of thing. I even bodybuild a bit and can admire a nice physique but I am not physically attracted to a man in that sense.

I have fantasized about being a woman for a guy and be sexual with them. I do not know where this sexual fantasy has came from but that is the source of some confusion in my sexuality. I am a masculine guy. I am not much football and basketball like ‘most men’ or anything like that. I consider myself laid back and I do not have any fake machismo BUT why do I fantasize about something like this? I love women and physically attracted to them but I have had ahem bad luck in that arena in the past. I have suffered depression in the past so maybe I might have looked to other men for something.

I know psychologically you can argue that people are not ‘born straight/gay’ but rather external stimuli affect that. I think some in my life may have damaged that to cause some feelings.

Maybe the fact that I did not have a real father figure for some time? No idea. Please I ask for guidance and understanding for me. My fear is that these feelings might linger and later affect me in life ,perhaps damage a marriage for example, which I do not. But then again maybe I just need a woman in my life to help me out. 🤷

it’s very common for things ot happen that way. Some men with the same problem have said what they wanted from a man was their own masculinity reflected and affirmed as a good thing. Does that sound like you?

It’s difficult to find yourself alone when you actually don’t want to be. I think it’s most likely that the type of fantasy you mentioned is possible largely due to a little desperation that you haven’t found a life-partner yet. Your mind is trying to find some way around things.
Don’t be too fazed by it but try to ditch such fantasies anyway.

One has to be blind and unappreciative not to notice the attractiveness of someone of either sex Do you know why so many women try so hard to be beautiful? Sorry, not just to impress you males! We’re too busy noticing how good the other women look and trying to keep up! Well, not all of us!

I’m not around when you’re dating, so I don’t know if you try too hard or whatever, or you’re simply not relaxed and comfortable with the girls. And why only really attracted to women out of your ‘race’? Is there some issue with your beautiful race? Some perception you have? We need to be comfortable with ourselves for others to be comfortable with us…

It isn’t necessarily that you’re disfunctional that you’ve not found a girl who has stuck around yet, maybe the best person for you hasn’t come along. And 25 might seem old to you! 😃 !

What are the chances of your finding a good Christian counsellor to help you sort out a few things. It’s good to sort things out honestly though not to become too introspective, too inward looking. We’re on this earth as sisters and brothers of each other and our lives become unhealthy if we’re too involved in our own needs to be aware and helpful to others in some real way. I wouldn’t know regarding you…

Anyway, that’s my few thoughts. May God bless you. May the Holy Spirit fill your mind and heart and soul and lead you to the true self, the generous life, and the person, whom God wishes for your life.

God bless, Trishie 🙂

Wel not necessarily. I don’t desire men in that sense.

Maybe not desperation but perhaps a bit of bad luck and a bit of issues going on with my mind. I have been single for about two years now and yes as I mentioned it is hard to find someone that I am compatible with. I thought I got over with these issues/insecurities when I was in college (in terms of meeting women) but they seem to come back. I feel attached and dependant to satisfy my mother and not make her sad…maybe that is part of the issue. That is part of the ‘race’ thing as well (not my fault, and yes I do find some girls within my race attractive). I have been going through a few things in my life as well that has forced me into a state of loneliness and I am praying to get through.

I am not trying to be selfish. I am a very giving person, but I am too self-aware for my own good and this is haunting me. It could be because of other reasons but the weird thing about my situation is I’m not a male that is ‘attracted’ to men. I guess my lifting weights does affirm some of my masculinity but it isn’t something that defines me.

I don’t actually think your sexuality is under any doubt. You are just suffering confusion and uncertainties.

And I see the sincerity in your assurances about your generosity. And your Mom…that’s so kind to consider her, but I had to learn that my cherished three sons had to make their own way. They made some choices that broke my heart times over, despite the fact that my sons love me to bits and often embracingly say. “I love you, Mum”, at odd times. It’s their lives. I made my choices, they have the right to theirs. Not all of mine have been the best…why should I expect theirs to be. Your mother made her own choices too, and you lived with them. Love your mother very much, as you do, but God’s gift of life to you is God’s gift to you.

And as regards the lack of confidence about dating, it really is a part of so many folks lives. I could hit my son on the head sometimes because he had a bad experience, and hasn’t dated for years. He now just says, “I wouldn’t know what to say. I’m boring.” He isn’t, and he has the most engaging smile, and a crackling sense of humour. He’s generous, intelligent, I think good-looking…but he’s one of many. You’re not alone in feeling alone and even a little undateable! It’s hard when you kind of feel, “it will never happen”. Please God you will meet, woo, and win a wonderful, good, faithful wife.

I understand about introspection and an over-active mind as mine has never stopped working either. In my situation I have an ill husband who has very little interest in anything, and though I do my best in keeping him warm, cheerful company, and doing whatever for/with him, it can feel very suffocating sometimes, and so I think too much sometimes. I understand. To be truthful, being a prayer warrior means that I can share the love of God and pray for others out there in the world.

You’re praying to get through. May God answer your prayers.
You will get through. God bless you, Trishie
