sexual thoughts?

is it a sin to have sexual thoughts about your wife or husband? i know it’s sinful to have sexual thoughts and fantasies about people other than your spouse but is it okay to have them about your spouse? i find myself at times (when it’s been a few weeks since we embraced) thinking of my wife and how wonderful the embrace between us is.

Where do people get these ridiculous and over-scrupulous ideas?

Yes sexual thoughts are permitted to spouses about their spouse (only thoughts of course that are good…regarding things that are not otherwise sinful…and of course one must think of ones spouse not as just some sexual object…etc)

…but prudence and chastity need to be the guide…

and of course avoid near occasions of the sin…for example when one is not able to be with each other…traveling or when one is avoiding via nfp (only for serious reasons of course)…or other near occasions…

and one does not want to get oneself …“worked up” as they say when one will not be able to engage in the marital embrace…

so one needs to exercise the virtues of temperance…chastity…prudence etc…
