Shameless!--my husband's first ice dance competition!

My husband and his ice dance partner found each other (via internet search) three short months ago. They’re both beginning ice dancers who are just beginning to test the dances. They commute 2 hours one way to practice together every week.

My husband is 51, and his partner is a grandmother, in case you’re wondering about ages.

They did their first competition (it was a fundraiser for St. Judes Children’s Hospital and the audience did the judging) last weekend and won 2nd Place! Yay! I was so proud!

The music is from the Yule Ball (from the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). During the ball, the musicians play instruments made of ICE! The kids in the audience enjoyed this music and their number.

Congratulations to your husband! It looks like they really enjoy what they do, and that has paid off! 🙂

As a pregnant lady with sciatica, though, I can hardly think of something I’d like to do *less *than ice skating right now, ick! 😃 I’m very much in a self-preservation state of mind at the moment.

I just have to ask… did you need foot surgery due to an ice skating “incident”? 😛 Just kidding!
 
Congrats to them! They looked quite comfortable out there, nice facial expressions and carriages.

No, I don’t skate, I’m just a super fan and I write about it.

My husband broke his wrist, though, right before Christmas, as a result of a fall backwards. It’s the second time he’s broken a wrist ice skating. (The first time, he forgot to take his blade guards off.)
 
Such fun! I used to skate all the time in the winter, growing up near Boston, but tried it in my 40s and nearly killed myself.

I would undoubtedly have numerous broken bones if I were to take it up again; I do miss it, and watch competitions on TV every chance I get.

Congrats to them!
