Hello!

One of my Facebook friends posted that shed be having surgery this week to get her tubes tied since she already had 5 kids and was “done”.

Do you feel that we have a rsponsibility to share Catholic teaching on Contraception with someone who was raised Catholic and is now a Protestant?

I mean, she obviously isnt a practicing Catholic so is there even a chance that she might be receptive to the teachings? Do we have an obligation to guide someone who has fallen away and probably doesnt even know that it would be a grave act to go through with this type of surgery?

Any approach would likely have to be fully scriptural since she likely doesnt view the church as having any authority. What to do, what to do?

THANKS ALL!

With five kids, she’s done her duty and then some. Let her be.

Yes, we have the responsibility to share the truth with our brothers and sisters whether or not they are Catholic. But you’re right, it’s hard in this situation if someone doesn’t accept the authority of the magisterium’s teaching. I would suggest Patrick Coffin’s book, Sex Au Naturel. The book uses the Bible and reason to defend the Church’s position.
And don’t forget that one of the best things you can do for her is to pray for her and be an example of holiness for her! 🙂

We don’t. But you can’t say God doesn’t either. So by contraception you are restricting yourself from recieving grace from the Lord.
No, you’re simply preventing conception.

How do we know what God wants?
By His actions. If she remains open to life in her relations with her husband, and gets pregnant again, then that’s God’s will. There is not one human being on this earth that God has not willed to exist.

Those who support contraception are, in effect, telling God this: “We know, that by this act, we may cooperate with Your Divine will in creating a person who will live forever. We know that this may be Your will. But WE won’t let YOU do it!” How would you like to be that person when they die and go before Jesus for judgment?! Not me!

Thanks All,

I hate to see people going against the teachings of the God. It really saddens me.

It’s also amazing to me that she posted it on Facebook, but then again, Ive seen people post much worse stuff than this.

I will be praying for her since I think she having the procedure done today.

God Bless you all
