The child is three years old and his mother is in prison for a parole violation. Is it appropriate for the child to visit if he wants to see his mother?

I’m not a child psychologist, so keep in mind that you may wish to consult with one for more personal assistance. All I can say is that children want a lot of things that are not appropriate for them to have granted to them by parents or guardians who are supposed to know better than the child what is in the child’s best interests. It seems to me that to take a three-year-old to a prison would terrify the child, doing him more harm than good. Surely he can be given a picture of his mother to keep close and can be helped in sending notes and artwork to his mother by mail.
