I was wondering because I might get a pc but I do not know if Catholics should really be playing these games nowadays 🤷‍♂️

The worst thing about video games is how time consuming they are and how little value they provide for that time, relative to other things you could be doing. Some video games might teach you some things about history or tell an insightful story, but you can get that much more from books and movies (in less time). They might improve hand-eye coordination and strategic thinking in some ways. Take it up with a good spiritual director. Guard your time and use it wisely. There are almost always better ways to spend it.

Your question is a bit overbroad.
Many people like to play some games in moderation to relax. A little relaxation time is okay, and you don’t have to spend your every waking moment doing something productive.

The questions to ask yourself are
  • What types of games are you and other family planning to play? Are they likely to create temptations for those who play them?
  • How much time do you think you and other family members will spend playing? Do you have a plan in place to limit game time so no one is spending too much time on the games?
