Should I be on my guard?

I recently started working with a good friend of mine. He has been through 2 marriages, and although he is generally very kind and considerate and patient, he also has a lot of hurt and anger in him which I think has grown strong over the years.

Since he is a dear friend to me, it’s my nature to want to console him and be a good friend to him, and try to lessen or ease the anger in him. My only concern- could my attention to him eventually lead him to care for me more than he should?

I take it he is a man and you are a woman? Then I’d say yes, be on your guard. Men falling for women who cared for them in times of crisis is a cliche, but a true one. Especially if you are a married woman, don’t get too close to this man. Surely you know some guys who could be there for him? Keep your distance but be friendly. And of course, pray for him.

definitely be on your guard, that doesnt mean you cannot be a good friend to him. even if he doesnt mistake your intentions he may try to use your good intensions to his advantage if he thinks you are unaware!

I would be on my guard and also reiterate that you are very happy with your spouse (without rubbing your happiness in his misery). It’s great that your are helping a friend in need though.
