I have confessed to the priest in an email
that I consider him “in persona Christi” but
have been avoiding my usual daily mass
b/c I have been watching naughty videos
on the internet(not porn) and am afraid of
facing him, I don’t know how to confess
this to him b/c he is quite strict, I HAVE
confessed my watching the videos but
have not confessed missing daily mass,
should I take communion this Friday??

I’m very confused. Is there a language issue here?

Anyway, here goes:

You “confessed” to him via email that you consider him “in persona Christi”? What does this mean?

You can’t confess via email. If you have something to confess, you need to do it in person.

You don’t have an obligation to attend daily Mass. Missing daily Mass is not a sin. It’s great if you can go, but it’s not a requirement.

If he is “strict” to the extent that you are afraid of him, perhaps you need to find a different confessor. But do you think it’s possible that he is a little frustrated with you because you seem like you’re dealing with major scrupulosity and are emailing “confessions” to him?

I should say I wrote him an email,
and in it I implied that I respect him
just as I would respect Christ, how-
ever, I keep missing his celebration
of the daily mass these past two
weeks, which I would normally do.

You sound very bothered about missing his celebration of Mass. Had you promised him you would attend or something?

It’s best not to get too attached to a particular priest.

So?

You aren’t obligated to attend daily Mass in the first place. It’s a good thing to do if you can, but you don’t need to apologize to him for failing to do something that you don’t have an obligation to do in the first place.

Is there more to the story here? Had you promised him you would assist at Mass as a Eucharistic minister, or by doing one of the readings? I’m confused as to why you think you did something wrong in not attending daily Mass.

Did you commit a mortal sin? Did you miss Sunday mass? What kind of naughty videos?

Your question raised more questions and clarification is needed.

  1. Daily mass is not a requirement, so don’t worry about it. Unless you are talking about missing Sunday mass, you’re fine.
  2. If you haven’t confessed the watching of naughty videos, you need to do so. I don’t think that confessing via email is a very wise thing to do, so do it in person. If you are afraid of that certain priest, go to a different one for confession.
But I can assure you that your priest has definitely heard that sort of thing a thousand times

  1. If you have only communicated to this or any other priest regarding the videos via electronic mail you have NOT confessed the sin. You NEEDto GO to Confession, either to him or to some other priest. This is a common problem and he will not look at you or treat you differently because you reveal this to him. If you truly see him persona Christi than you already know this to be true.
  2. Attendance at daily Mass is not required of Catholics and so missing daily Mass is not a sin. This is something you do not need to confess.

GLam are you in a Religious Order that requires Daily Mass?

Have you taken some sort of vow to attend Daily Mass?

I see you are second order K of C.

Did your Priest reply to your E-mail confession?

Ask your Priest in person if you should take Communion. At this point we have no idea of the circumstances.

If you are watching material inconsistent with our Cathilic Faith, why not get rid of the Tv, Blu ray, netflix, DVD, home Computer, internet access for a while.

God bless you this Holy Week. These are questions for those who know your circumstances.

Honesty is necessary when speaking to a priest. I am (or try to be) as straightforward as I can be. Priests go through a lot as I have recently learned. If there is something troubling you which is noticeable it may be seen by others. I would inform him that due to the immense respect you have for him, there are things you have difficulty confessing to. I would use a word such as one priest I knew used for himself “I am very orthodox in my Catholicism.” Mention that is the vibe you are getting and state that you live in a very liberal world where sinning is treated as being “extremely normal” and that you are trying to be different and honor your God. Sincerity is important, blame can do so very little.

I would confess and one line of scripture that taught me to “come out with it” was from the Book of Timothy, where he said that of all sinners, he is the worst. It inspired me to confess like crazy to unthinkable acts I didn’t think much about and really could have screwed me up in the afterlife. Prophets and Saints said such things for times like this, remember that they went through more to ensure confession existed than you going to confession. Do it up!

Confession can only be done directly to the priest in person. It cannot be done by email, internet, phone, twitter or any media devices/means.
In short, if you think you have made a Confession by email you have not.

This quote of my post (#3) is my answer to
those who thot I confessed by email, in it
I implied that I am a regular at daily mass
and I’m “okay with the Lord”, but b/c of my
sinful Youtube watching and selfish and
self-pity, I have avoided daily mass for
two weeks, on top of that the priest said
he had to see the doctor about a cancer
scare.
Anyway, to wrap this thread up, I personally
apologized to this priest after evening Vespers
and now I feel like a million bucks, praise the
Lord!!

It’s not a mortal sin to NOT go to daily Mass, only to miss Mass on Sunday (if you’re reasonably capable of attending, you’d be breaking the 3rd Commandment). While it’s beneficial to the soul to go to Mass as often as possible, you’ve not committed a mortal sin by not going to daily Mass.
