WE shouldn’t accuse fullstop 🙂 but I know we all do at times:thumbsup:
Sorry
I didn’t mean it as to the thread as a whole but our whole actions… 🙂 We do it all the time. All of us accuse at some point.and it felt appropiate when we get carried away on these postings… sorry for the confusion :hug3:

This is a bit of over kill don’t you think? Getting tipsy doesn’t mean someone needs a 12 step program.

Tipsy, in most peoples mind is simply that they are feeling the effects of the alcohol. It doesn’t mean they have lost all sensibility, and are dancing on the table tops.

The OP realized they had reached that point, and stopped. That is responsible behavior.

Take it from a former bartender, I have seen everything from stone cold sober to bombed out of their mind, and the OP hasn’t given any indication they were bombed. They also haven’t indicated that this is an ongoing thing.
My belief, based on many family members, friends, co-workers having serious issues with alcohol and drugs after years of “sensible” drinking, is this: why should you wait until you are deeply damaged by your favorite substance before visiting a 12 step program; why not do a “check-in” every now and then and keep it honest. You might learn interesting things like: not every alcoholic gets “bombed”; many are quite “functional” in most parts of their lives. Many have a quiet form of addiction.

The question is not that of “overkill”, but that of "If you did have a problem with alcohol, how would you know it? " and “Wouldn’t it be better to pay attention now than later?”-for which I recognize and laud the OP for paying attention.

You are making a huge assumption.

Nothing in the OP indicates that this is an ongoing issue, or even an issue at all.

The OP acted in a responsible manner. They realized the alcohol was affecting them, and they stopped. That is called being responsible.

Everyone’s idea of sensible drinking is different, and just because you have a history of family and friends who having drinking problems, doesn’t mean the OP is in the same boat as them.

If a person takes pain medicine, should they check out Narcotics Anonymous? If they have more than one desert, or candy bar, should they go to Overeaters Anonymous?

You are making an unfounded assumption about an individual based upon one incident.
There isn’t even any indication they have drank since this incident.

There is no pressing need for you to go to confession. At worst it’s a venial sin. If you feel guilty about it then by all means confess it at your next confession, when you go, but you do not need to get to confession just for this.
