There is a youtuber that I have been watching for some time now (I used to support him but now I’m honestly drifting away from him) and he has been going on for an extremely long time about some “glitch” on his account. I may have the answer to what is wrong with this glitch but I’m not sure if I should tell him. Here are some reasons why I think I should:
  1. He wants to gather a lot of money to make a charity (apparently it’s going to be this huge thing that he plans on doing possibly even worldwide and I believe he wants to do this).
  2. He isn’t the best financially right now
  3. We should always help those in need
Here’s why I think I shouldn’t:
  1. His content he produces is bad. By bad I mean his videos are curse outs, insults, and making fun of things (establishments, events etc.) very negative stuff that shouldn’t be watched in my opinion
  2. He has his own religion and he even plans on making his own Bible
  3. His attitude. People who comment against him get cursed out and yelled at. He claims it’s to “take them out of the darkness” but at times he even insults and ridicules people.

I can’t make my mind up. I don’t want him spreading his sinful messages around but I also feel bad because of this charity thing he plans on doing plus he isn’t making much money (im talking about money needed To survive). Any help is appreciated. Thanks and God bless!

No. It is not charitable to encourage someone in his error, nor to encourage the spreading of error.

Regarding our Lord’s command, “Give to him that asketh thee” St. Augustine comments (Catena Aurea, Matt. 5:42):

Therefore, He says not, ‘Give all things to him that asks;’ but, “Give to every one that asketh;” that you should only give what you can give honestly and rightly. For what if one ask for money to employ in oppressing the innocent man? What if he ask your consent to unclean sin? We must give then only what will hurt neither ourselves or others, as far as man can judge; and when you have refused an inadmissible request, that you may not send away empty him that asked, shew the righteousness of your refusal; and such correction of the unlawful petitioner will often be a better gift than the granting his suit.

If he isn’t managing his own money well right now, how is he going to manage the charity money? To me it sounds like it’s just a way for him to get money for himself.

There’s other charities you could help with the money you were going to give him.

Thanks everybody for your responses! I talked to my priest today and just saying my reasons out loud made it clear that I shouldn’t support him and should probably just stop watching him. God bless and thanks again!
