Should I keep trying or give up?

If you are trying to do something long-term, and it keeps getting messed up, mostly by other people, how do you know if it is God’s will to stay and keep working on this or just leave?

I am not good at the whole feeling of peace thing that my priest keeps saying, because I spent too many years going for what seemed like a good thing but turned out to be like wrong (sinful).

Is there another way of knowing?

I would really recommend watching some of these videos. Discernment of God’s will can be difficult, and I know personally it can be hard to distinguish what I want vs. what God wants, or what God says vs. what I or the world or someone else says. Unfortunately it’s not always black and white, which I’m sure you know, but these videos give a little more insight into how to deal with it. Best of luck! God bless.

I also really recommend praying the rosary more often. I know everyone says to do it, and you might not feel the effects of it immediately, but over a little bit of time and with some consistency, you’ll feel Mother Mary’s guidance, and it’s a very helpful and, most of the time, clear guidance. Don’t overwhelm yourself, maybe just start off with 1-3 times a week and go from there. And if you already pray the rosary frequently, utilize its blessings, and ask our Blessed Mother for her guidance.

Thanks so much for the videos, FrankieJen! They were really good, especially where they say sometimes you just get to choose yourself!

And the advice about the Rosary is good too. Like, actually good because your advice made me think about the trouble I have been having with it 😃

If this thing you are trying to do has become an obsession more important than God and you lack time and capacity love and take care of those those destined by Him to be with you (your family) it’s probably best you move on and find another interest. God does not drive us close insanity with His tasks. The tasks are meant to bring us closer to Him and St. Apostle John said that one cannot love God without loving one’s brother as well, and a task that gets you so concentrated you can’t do anything else but think about it and doing it, is my bet it is not from God.

Well, the thing itself was not doing all that, but when other people started making roadblocks to it, it got harder, right?

So I was trying to see if I should keep going in fighting the roadblocks, or just give up.

I have to admit, the whole thing is still a mess in my mind. I get ok about it, then something happens… I just also don’t have any other options, so if this doesn’t work, well, I don’t know what I will do.
