Should I not play the game?

There is a game where the default name for players is a disgusting and suggestive term. It appears to be used in an insulting manner to goad the players into changing their name from the default. This is the only thing inherently wrong with the (default, un-modded) game. Should that be enough for me to stop playing? Can I safely just ignore it and change it?
 
Just change your name. It’s fine to play the game if that’s all that’s wrong with it.
 
What’s the closest analogous situation that the Church has taken a position on?
 
There’s this guy I know. He has this game, and so do I (I got it a few years ago). It’s a building game. I want to find something to play with him on a regular basis so he can have one more thing to look forward to in life. He’s already not averse to cussing. Would I be scandalizing him by encouraging him to play this game (saying, “Hey, we both have this; we could play it.”)?
 
There isn’t a Church position on every mundane situation you’re going to encounter in life. This is really, really a giant pile of nothing. You’re going to make yourself crazy if you expect to find an official Church answer on things this minor.

Relax.
 
Why would the Church take a position on something this stupid and trivial? The Church is busy.
Are you trolling?

If you are serious with all these questions about games, I would suggest that you either stop playing games entirely or better yet talk to a priest about your scruples, because it is not normal to be this obsessed with tiny details about some game.

Wow- everybody’s kind of harsh. I think it’s a legit question in our vulgar secular pop culture – what is okay, and when are things “beyond the pale”? To the OP, your solution seems reasonable – change the name, it sounds like you are trying to do a greater good to reach out to someone in friendship.

I would say it might be this, from Phil 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
Now it is true that in books, games, movies, and so on, not everything is true, noble, right and pure, because in order to have plots we need to have conflict. But I think that if the good outweighs the evil, and comes out on top in the end, it’s all right. But consider what is the overall sense that the game gives you-- how do you feel after playing it?
 
Oh my gosh… is this game you’re talking about that South Park game? No, don’t play it if it’s south park.
