Should I read this or toss it out?

I just got a “surprise” gift from someone. “Dont Know Much About the Bible” by Kenneth C. Davis…

This guy says he studied with Jesuits but he never makes a claim to be Catholic----- Maybe I missed it if he did.
Is this man a Catholic? I dont want to read this if he is pushing a non catholic POV. I have better things to do with my time.

Help! I want to read it but I need advice here on if any Catholic here has read it and their thoughts. I will return it as it came with a gift reciept and the giver said they did not have a clue about it and only bought it since I am the only person they know that bothers to read the Bible!!!

Thoughts?

Personally, I would read it. Just because you might learn something. And we should always be open to learning, going outside our comfort zone so to speak. I have a policy, once I start reading a book, I finish it, no matter what. There have been books I wasn’t sure about it, but in the end , it was pretty good. Give it a shot.

Just the last line would make me, as a Catholic, put it down. As to the Red sea and Jerico . . .some people just don’t believe in miracles and that God is all powerful. Perhaps there are natural explanations for these events but we don’t need to explain everything.

Thanks guys for responding to my thread! I was wondering if people were thinking I became a heretic and did not want to respond to me…

I will read it now just to go over it with a fine tooth comb so I can **fight the ****heresy **that is in it in case someone ends up buying this stuff and starts threads on this book.
