Hello! I am Catholic, confirmed at Easter Vigil 2014. I go to confession and mass. However, I am not yet married, I am in graduate school, and have yet to start my career, and have found that some Sundays I just don’t have money to give to the church. Should I still go to mass? I feel embarrassed if I don’t contribute to the collections.

YES!

Our attendance at Mass has nothing to do with how much we are able to contribute to the parish. We go to Mass to receive God’s Word and His Sacrament, those things are priceless. No one should ever feel that they are not welcome at Mass because they have tight finances. If you still feel awkward about not being able to give monetarily, perhaps you could offer to volunteer to help out the parish in other ways. Either way, please always attend Mass and receive the grace of God.
