Should I wear a veil?

I come from a Restorationist/Jewish background. In my teens, I did mission work among Muslim immigrants and was required to wear a hijab as part of that. After converting to Catholicism, I have had much curiosity about head coverings in Church. I know it’s not required, but could/should I wear a veil? Just to try it? What are the pros and cons of such attire? What is the Scriptural backing for this practice?
Also, would it offend anyone if I just wore my old hijab instead of going out and buying a mantilla? I’m wearing it for the same purposes as a mantilla, it’s just not a mantilla…
