Should I worry about what people think about my car?

It’s going to depend on the girl, and yes, some will be turned off by a modest car.

I would recommend not buying a nice car for precisely this reason 😃 It should be a great filter for avoiding the chaff!

Personally, I find a fancy car is a turn-off, because it implies to me that a guy thinks having a fancy car matters a lot. Sometimes it comes with an attitude that getting a girl is all about the right car, right clothes, being “cool” - and shows that a guy has no confidence in his ability to impress a girl on his own merits. I married the guy with no car - not because he had no car, but the car status didn’t really matter.

If there is one thing I can not stand about a man is when he talks about his car. Cars bore me (I have never owned one because I have better things to spend my money on and car loans are ridiculous to me).

That is not to say if I had a boyfriend, I would greatly appreciate him taking me places in his car. Especially when I need to buy groceries.

If I see a really old car with parts flying in the wind as he drives, I think he has NO sense of pride. If I get in and there is junk all around, like a gym bag and gloves I think he is messy. If the car is too expensive, I think he has more debt than self esteem.

If the car is clean and in working condition, as I said before, I am very greatful for the ride and then I don’t want to talk about it because CARS BORE ME

As you’ve seen, there are some gals who actually prefer the older cars, and plenty who (like me) are fine with any vintage as long as it’s clean-ish and in good working order.

I’m not especially fond of way-out-there colours on cars, like lime green or bright bright yellow, but even then I don’t think it’d be a deal-breaker.

Fuzzy dice or leopard-skin seat covers, on the other hand … 😃

*Here’s a switch…when my dh and I were dating, he judged ME on the looks of the inside of my car…because it was a total mess! lol After 18 yrs, different car, same mess. 😃 He said, I should buy you a garbage truck to drive around LOL. It’s not that bad.

Really. :o

But he is a very structured and organized person, he shakes his head when he gets into my car…lol *

If it gets you from point A to pint B then that is all that matters.

When I met my DH her drove a 75 (older than me) Caprice station wagon that he painted over with regular wall paint and a roller. It looked like heck. It ran well and got him to work and back. I didn’t and don’t, see a problem.🤷

If a girl is going to be like that…C ya, wouldn’t wanna B ya!

Personally, I find it unattractive when a man is too concerned about the car he drives. I don’t like sportscars – I much prefer a truck-driving man!! But it’s my nature to like down-to-earth people and I’ve never liked a “show-off” and often, a fancy car is just a way of showing off.

My DH drove a old Jeep Rangler when we met, and since then has had 2 pick-up trucks. What can I say? I like a man who comes home from work dirty… 😉

I agree with the other posters. When I met my husband, he was driving an old, beat up station wagon with over 200K miles on it! Did I care? Not really. I cared more about the rosary on the rear view mirror and the pro-life sticker on the back. 🙂
