Should rock music be played during adoration?

There’s a trend in my area to have adoration with music, not with the Chaplet of Divine Mercy or prayerful music, but with Christian rock music. It is distracting because the band seems to be competing with God for our attention and applause, and because of this it is nearly impossible to pray. My concern is that this will spread to our silent adoration chapels. Is this appropriate?

No. With the exception of sacred hymns sung during a Benediction and Exposition service, there shouldn’t be any music (of any type) during adoration. During adoration, our attention should be focused on God.
