Should we ask Christ for comfort when we sin?

So I was having a discussion with someone about a particular instance that we saw on a show, and I was wondering what you lovely people think about it.

Let’s say someone isn’t normally a heavy drinker, but they had too much one night and got very ill the next day. We all know the familiar scene, the person clutching the bed and begging for God’s help though it chuckle. But then we got a little more serious. A “hangover” is a sign that you drank too much and damaged your body ( a sin ) and say someone who is a christian does this. Their way of dealing with it is acknowledging “Yes, I sinned. I shouldn’t have done that and I deserve this. But Jesus, could you could be with me through this and be my strength and comfort while I recover?”

Would this just be adding insult to injury? Or do you think Jesus loves to see us do this and maybe even allows the consequences of sin to come to us so we do come running to him so he can comfort us through it?

Comfort me in my self-infliction vs. Comfort me in my affliction 😃

When I reverted, I was asking for comfort in my examination of conscience and in the act of Reconciliation. I felt very comforted afterward in my prayers.

Well I for one would like to see an answer ^^… I think one could still ask for comfort in self-inflicted affliction.

Would a loving parent turn away a hurt child because the child got hurt in the course of an act of disobedience? “Serves you right, you little brat!” I don’t think so.

If you were at the Easter vigil, you heard someone chant, “O happy fault, O necessary sin of Adam that gained for us so great a Redeemer!” God will seize upon any excuse to bring us close to Him so He can shower us with love.

Why not go to God with your self-inflicted afflictions? I mean, if the reason you want to heal up quickly is that you intend to go binge drinking again, and you ask Jesus to heal you so you can sin again- that is obviously wrong. But if you regret your error in judgement, and you are suffering, why wouldn’t you ask for God’s help? Why would you think that he would not want to help you?
