Should we believe in Gensis literally?

1. Who was Cain married to? Only people on earth was Adam & Eve.
2. Why did God need to mark Cain to keep him safe. Noone else was on earth.
3. Was it a different species of man that lived for 800 years?

I am in the process of reading the bible from the beginning and thought it would best to ask questions as I read it.
