Should you hang a Cross or a Crucifix?

Are catholics supposed to hang a crucifix or the cross in their home? Does it matter which one we choose to hang? Is it up to the person, or does the church prefer one over the other?

My husband and I are not members of the Catholic church however, we have attended mass for the past 8 weeks. We have loved everything about the catholic church so far. Last night we were talking about how in our old faith, (Mormon/LDS) we were taught that we shouldn’t wear the cross. There were never crosses in our churches or homes. We were talking last night, and thought it would be nice to hang some in our home.

Catholics normally use crucifixes as a reminder of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:23; 2:2). However there is nothing inherently wrong with a cross and it can serve as the same reminder. The choice is up to you.
