Shouldn't the Church carry Jesus' name?

I am a Catholic. I was asked by a Mormon these questions, “If the Catholic Church is the Church of Jesus Christ, why doesn’t the Church carry or bear Jesus’ name?” " Shouldn’t the Church bear Jesus’ name?"

I didn’t know how to answer the questions. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Jesus didn’t give it a name; He just gave it authority. If Jesus wanted it to have his name, He would have said so. His concern was on more basic matters. By the beginning of the second century that name “Catholic” was first applied to it. Catholic means that it is meant for everyone.
