What a load of pish!

In that case then the Church is full of show offs on Sundays and I am one of them.

Folks do get some funny ideas into their heads.

It’s probably the case that your friend is concerned with her own spiritual pride and she is wrestling with that, so you might like to just say a prayer for her and drop discussing the subject with her.

I’ll keep you both in the Living Prayer of my life.

Actually, she told me in detail about HER service in a private room where they have just the bible… no showing off at all, churches would be a non-biblical invention (this musts be some very strange form f evangelical christianity - she refusus to tell me the name of her denomination, I suppose it is just a meeting of several Christians who want to follow this particular ideal of keeping it private). I wouldn’t even call it pharisaen, I think she sincerely believes it to be wrong what mot communities with public churches are doing.

Thank you again for your support, maybe I’ll risk it again to be called or thought a show-off. God knows 🙂
Seventh Day or JW?

Probably something similar to Seventh Day, but still sunday-keeper. Pretty mixed, her practices and believes.

Definitely not JW 🙂

That is a relief! (not a JW)

If they gather round in a room with only the bible, I hope they are not worshiping it…

Ask her if they do.

I did so, and she said no, but then followed the usual protestant view about the scripture being the only source of God’s word - we had that throughs everal times, but each and every time, she brings up the same arguments again, so I have given it up (apart from praying).

Well, I will take her on face value on it that they dont worship the bible, it just sounded like it the way I read your description of their worship service.

I wonder, if you had been sitting in a pew reading the bible, and people saw that would she think that would be showing off or being guilty of spiritual pride? I dont know, just thinking out loud…
