It seems obvious to me that the idea that one’s mother detests their child to the point that they have it killed could cause considerable distress. I don’t know why any mother would share such information with their child.

It is sad. It is horrendous. I know of a woman who’s mother told her that she was supposed to be aborted, but she found out she was pregnant “too late”. The doctor wouldn’t perform it.

Needless to say, this child is very pro-life now.

But so incredibly sad.

Way before I became a strong Catholic, I remember being in health class in highschool. We each had to do a project on a disease and I remember one student did his project on the inherited genetic disorder that he had. (I forget what it was called.) During the course of his presentation, he told the class that his mother also had the disorder. It caused it’s victims to go blind at a very young age and most individuals with it suffered from mental retardation and died before the age of thirty. (His mother had already passed away.) Aparantly, when she was pregnant she was aggressively counsuled to have an abortion but she refused. The boy’s testimony left a huge impression on me and I became staunchly pro-life way before I was able to accept the church’s other teachings.

I don’t understand why someone would tell their child that they aborted another child :confused:
