Well, Cranmer got himself suspended, so all he can do is read for now.

Let’s not forget that even the author of Sola Scriptura, Martin Luther himself, believed in Mary’s perpetual virginity. He even gave credit to the Catholic Church for giving us the Bible! Unfortunately, as ML began making himself the authority, he started removing books that conflicted with his new invention of Sola Scriptura and Sola Fides. Taking James out was the last straw, though (no pun intended) and he had to put it back.
Yup.
**I ALWAYS find it interesting that the factions that came after the “Reformers” continued to split from the original ideas of Protestantism. After all - Protestantism itself is born of divorce. **

Why would ANY of us be surprised that they would continue to divorce perpetually?

Well, I guess there’s no one to oppose Our Lady’s perpetual virginity on this thread now. Not that Cranmer2010 offered any coherent argument, apart from reiterating: ‘You can’t prove from Scripture that M. and J. didn’t have babies , nah-nah nah-nah-nah’. As other posters and I (based on what little I know) have tried to affirm, that is comprehensively WRONG.

To lax16 and Elvisman: thank you for your kind appreciation:blessyou: Especially since Cranmer seems to have ignored my posts.

I wanted to ask Cranmer why it was so important to him to assert that Our Lady had sexual relations. It’s scurrilous prudery, bordering on blasphemy, IMHO. AND it goes against what orthodox Christians have universally believed since at least the 2nd century.

Personally, I’m sad to see a fellow Anglican being suspended. Although I’ve run into Cranmer on a previous thread…let’s just say I’ve learnt to a be bit more cautious in my responses.

God bless,
zdon

Attempting to rebutt to death one word of Scripture doesn’t make your argument Elvis. There are several Scriptures that tell us that your point of view here doesn’t really fit. Show me using Scripture where Joseph and Mary never had normal marital sex. Show me using Scripture that Jesus never had blood siblings. The whole point here is that you can’t make this argument using the Bible Elvisman. I’m respectfully just saying that. The whole premise of Mary being a perpetual virgin and Jesus never having any blood siblings has to come from somewhere other than the inherant word or God.
Then the opposite can be asked of you.

Show us using Scripture where Joseph and Mary had normal marital sex?

The whole premise of Mary not remaining a perpetual virgin and Jesus having blood siblings has to come from somewhere other than the inherant word or God.

He knows… It the bible it CLEARLY says “Jesus her FIRSTBORN”, and if there wasn’t any other children, then why would he be called the firstborn? Why does t say that Joseph kept Mary a virgin UNTIL she gave birth. UNTIL!!! And why wold she deny joseph sex anyways, if it is a sin to deny sex to your husband and for the husband to deny it to the wife.
