Baptism on the forehead/ infant heart, ashes on first day of Lent, anointing and self blessing.

Did you make the sign of the holy cross?

No, but I know how to in theory- including East, West and Russian old believer ways 😛

Am I right that Lutherans make the sign of the cross as a reminder of their baptismal promise?

Yes, if the baptismal font is at the entrance of the church. And throughout the Mass. At home and instinctively in face of evil such at 9/11.

Interesting. I’d like to hear your personal experiences (and others). Were you raised to make the sign of the cross early on or was it something you started to do later in life? (if later, did it come naturally?)

What personal benefits (and negatives) have you found practicing it?

Thanks

Making the sign of the holy cross is universal among Lutherans and mandatory at consecration by the priest.

I learned to make the sign of the cross in Lutheran schools, we bless ourselves at dinner.
