Dear all,
I’ve been following this wonderful forum for quite a while now and have recently registered as a member. It has answered so many questions - even those I haven’t thought about yet, even though I myself am not active. And seeing so many people agree on points that the secular media would describe as “extreme”, strengthens me in my believe that they may indeed be “extreme”, but certainly are not wrong! After all, here on earth, all actions lead to one “extreme” result: Heaven or Hell. Doesn’t get more clearcut than that
The more I learn about the Faith, the more I talk about it to friends, the more questions are raised, the more research I have to do. Usually with satisfying result. Nevertheless, sometimes an issue pops up that really baffles me and to which I have found no satisfactory answer on CAF. This is why I would like to ask this following question.
I obviously agree abortion is murder and such a severe breach of Divine Law. Nonetheless, one of the frequent issues is that “the mother is not ready to have a baby”, to which Catholics reply, “Well, you shouldn’t have sex then, as it is a matter for married people open to the possibility of new life”. I accept all this. But, most of the time, abortion happens because of a non-martial sexual act which is sinful in its nature. Now comes the tricky part: Combine this new life (before it is aborted) which is willed by God, as proven in Scripture (I’m not really strong with Bible quotes, but I think it says somewhere in Psalms that God knows us even before we are made), very explicit even (the unwanted and soon-to-be-aborted baby is written in the palm of His hand as well), with the fact that the life is a fruit of a sinful relation (and God absolutely abhors sin).
I hope I framed the question correctly. This leads me to the disturbing thought that God WANTED this couple to have sinful non-marital sex to produce this life He knew about and has written in the palm of His hand. For this wanted and desired child of God, He had to have two people commit mortal sin.
This strikes me as … immensely odd. Can you please give me your opinion on this matter as it bothers me greatly.
