Sin of destroying the body

God said if you destroy the body I will destroy you. Does that mean the body. Meat is not good for us. Certainly not diet soda pop. All this destroys the body. So then can it be said that one lives until God desides to take away life?

Do you have a Scripture verse that states that God said that if we destroy the body He will destroy us? I do not remember anything similar to this, but then my memory is faulty.
 
If you read the passage in entirety, Paul is talking about the Church altogether as God’s temple. As in, whoever is at fault for destroying God’s Church (whether with schism or heresy or scandal) is damnable.

Oh I thought our bodies where the temple of the holy spirit. Temples of flesh and not of stone. Like the saying “I will write my law in their hearts”.

1 Cor 3:16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? 3:17 If any one destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are.
It is “you”, the whole human person – body and soul – that is the temple. So it becomes important to understand what “destroys” us as a fitting place where the Holy Spirit can dwell, what makes us unholy. And I think we all know the answer to that – it is grave sin that destroys us as temples in which the Holy Spirit can dwell.

Meat and soda pop are the least of our worries! 🙂
