Thats right, it is an act of expressing to God how sad you are about your sins followed by your promises to Him to make things right with Him again by going to confession and doing penance which you ask Him to help you to do.Anyway, enough of my musings and back to the point… I think this makes better sense now… from what I understand… the confessing/penance isn’t the ‘Act’ of the ‘Act of Contrition’ then… the ‘Act’ is the desire and intent to do those things?
The acts of confessing and doing penance are things you are going to do in the future.
