sinful dream

Oh dear,
I’m worried about this. I watched a film about infidelity and I was most upset with the cheating women and felt utter remorse for her poor husband. I later realised it was a movie in bad taste. Titled “Unfaithfull” Richard Gere was the betrayed husband.

Now I went to sleep after, was a long movie. I had a dream that I was a captive woman, and enslaved to a malicious man, who repeatedly had sex with me, and I was having orgasms in my sleep.

Am I guilty of this dream? It was more of a nightmare.
I feel dirty.
This malicious man in the dream is an actual person, I see maybe twice a week, in the gym. I have no interest in the man what so ever. I only have eyes for my husband.
I feel sick.
Please dont tell me I need to confess this. If I do need to confess it will be on the lines of "I had a sinful dream, that went ahead without my consent. end of story.

That is not a sin,you can’t control your dreams.You probably had a subconscience reaction to the movie.God Bless
 
even if it’s a lucid dream which means you can control your dream it’s probably not sinful as well, as you’re not in** full** consciousness
 
I agree with the other posters. Your dreams are not under your control.

Shae, don’t worry. This dream was a subconscious reaction to what you saw. After I watch movies, I tend to get dreams that relate to something about the movie.

Don’t worry, it’s not a sin. You can’t control your subconscious mind (which formulates most dreams), therefore, the dream wasn’t your fault.

Watching an immoral movie is generally wrong, but it sounds like you didn’t know it was that kind of movie, so you would have little, if any, culpability. Even if it was a case that you have zero culpability, wrong is still wrong, and sometimes that comes with consequences–in this case, bad dreams. But the dreams are not sinful, but something to bear. Perhaps think of it as a gift of wisdom to be more careful about what you allow into your mind in the future.

Dear Shae!

Stop thinking about it! You have not wanted this dream! You don’t need to confess it! !You have no reason to feel ashamed when you meet the man from your dream!

If the dream continues to bother you (in your thoughts), think of a short prayer that you can say (asking Jesus for help to stop it), and then try to think about something else!

No dream would be sinful, especially that one! Would you want to be held captive and be powerless against a man who would have sex with you whenever he wants?

You mention not one but plural=orgasmS, meaning various, which means it was a long dream. I am going to tell you what a great doctor of moral theology and orthodox young priest toldd ME, after I told him that I would have these lucid dreams then masturbate while sleeping. He said="it is sinful ONLY if I provoke these dreams by what I see BEFORE I go to bed. Therefore, in your case, you need to ask yourself WHY would you see such a movie anyway? Otherwise, if one sees nothing sinful, or reads nothing sinful BEFORE going to bed or throughout the day, but you STILL have those dreams and you orgasm etc, etc. etc. than NO YOU DO NOT SIN, if you were sure you were TOTALLY in a sleeping state, i.e. not even slightly awake.
 
I would think one would not orgasm if she was being sexually assaulted…you have to push a lot of buttons on a woman for that to happen…I would think that would not be a state of mind conducive to orgasms.
 
Most men can’t imagine how a woman could have an orgasm during rape, but theologists for some reason have always had something to say about experiencing pleasure in rape. Also, there is a share of women who have rape fantasies, even if one would need to look extremely hard to find one who would seriously want that to happen.

Saint Thomas Aquinas believed the sinfulness of dreams or lack of it depended on what happened before the night fell. In my humble opinion, there are some problems with his logic (if you watch a downright porn movie, you regret and confess, you are absolved, you get a wet dream - is it a new sin? - the old sin of watching that movie is already a past sin, so it isn’t in the light of the passage about past sins producing results in the form of dreams being had in the present, but without confession in the middle, it would seem to be a separate new sin of that sinful dream, so finally is it a part of the past sin or is it a separate new sin? - there is a problem here ), but it seems to point out in the right direction. However, exposing oneself to the possibility of such a dream by watching a movie is hardly the same as willingly procuring such a dream, so I can’t really see how one could make a separate sin out of the dream itself.

There seems to be a problem with sexual sensations going on when someone starts waking up. Obviously, if it can’t be controlled, there can’t be a sin in it going on, even if feeling of guilt will appear. But if it can be controlled, I can’t say how much of resisting and fighting is enough. And, obviously, there must be a difference between struggling and not struggling with it.

However, I may be wrong. I’m not a theologist and I may be tainted by may secular law studies when it comes to guilt and responsibility.
 
I do think that perhaps your dream was a very moral responce to the movie you saw, since it was a nightmare. I’ve had similar dreams. They go as such:
I’m in a battle and killing tons of enemies, I’m doing very well. When the battle is over, I’m awarded a medal, and as I hold it, walking away, I’m overwhelmed with terrifying remorse of all the enemy soldiers I’ve killed. Here’s the moral part: when the government/etc make me go back into battle, I refuse (this is still all part of the dream). As they persist, I become so terrified that I can’t move.
You see, a dream of ultimate violence pushes me away from violence, and is actually productive in my moral growth. I can sometimes get jaded by TV, movies, and games, and dreams like this are a last-ditch defense against that.

I could be wrong but in my opinion in order for a women to have an true orgasm in a dream it would have to be quite vivid. I don’t think this could happen if one is even slightly awake.
Not a sin. I think it’s bothering you that you could have a sexual response to a normally repugnant situation. The mind does weird things sometimes.

Ok not that I care to share this much personal information but I have had vivid dreams about situations that in real life would be completely repugnant and definately not conducive to sexual enjoyment.
These are uncontrolled dreams and weird things happen in the mind sometimes.
