Just a note, there isn’t a Consecration on Good Friday. The Hosts would all have been reserved from the previous night’s Mass of the Lord’s Supper. I’m not sure, but there might not be a final blessing either.
I know there was no final blessing on Good Friday, but I couldn’t remember what occasion it was…it was sometime during Lent. Maybe it was the Wednesday or Holy Thursday Consecration:shrug: that was a while ago so I don’t remember. My point simply being that the Consecration in my parish is rarely just spoken.

Our former pastor used to chant the Eucharistic prayer and the mass setting as a whole. In English. Oh, it was so beautiful! I miss him and that parish soooo much. It’s hard to be in a regular parish after getting exposed that kind of beauty.

It’s sad that so few seminarians are taught to sing and chant with any semblance of ability. Oh for the days of Msgr. Charles Meter!
I know what you mean. I was so happy recently, when I was looking at online biographies of the 5 men in our diocese who were recently ordained priests, to discover that one of them is a very active singer and piano player. Perhaps he will use chant in the Mass!
